Projekt:Europeana Awareness 2012/GLAM-WIKI 2013 Conference

Background

GLAM-WIKI 2012 was unexpectedly canceled. Instead a GLAMcamp was organized in which Wiki(p|m)edians met and discussed cooperation with GLAMs and how to organize the GLAM-WIKI conference in 2013 instead. John participated during the Sunday and was able to join the organizing team for the GLAM-WIKI 2013 conference (with a special focus on the content and communication (promoting to speakers/attendees)) and he will therefore be part of outlining the conference, what should be included and whom to invite. This is a great position to be able to get a lot of Europeana related things happening in one of the largest conferences for Wiki(p|m)edians that will take place in 2013.

Participation

Around 150-200 people are expected to attend the conference (consisting of both Wiki(p|m)edians and GLAM professionals).

Date

The conference will take place on the 12-13th of April.

Direct support from Europeana

A great way for Europeana to help would be to help sending out information about the event to the Europeana network to get as good speakers as possible. We want the event to be an international one. Most of the budget for the event will be covered by WMUK. WMSE (John) will work on finding international speakers. Many practical things are however already finalized: the venues are already booked and the date set. We have also drafted a schedule and will keep working on that when we start getting suggestions on presentations. We will also try to find more Chapters, such as Wikimedia Germany, to cooperate with them on the organization of the conference.

Connection to Europeana

We will have a joint presentation about the Europeana and Wikimedia cooperation and one about the GLAMwiki toolset and Europeana's team will lead a workshop about the GLAMwiki toolset.
