Vi har fått chansen att vara med på SIME non-profit. Detta innebär att i kan få hjälp att lösa en "challenge" av proffs (som i sin tur har chans att vinna pengar om de gör ett kreativt och bra jobb). Här tar vi fram en utmaning.

Deadline för inlämning är 2 november.

Formalia

The requirements for adding your challenge are:

1. It needs to be in English (and keep it short - remember people's attention span).
2. you need to add your logo or picture that you want to have next to the challenge.
3. A link to the website
4. Contact person

De tre sista löser vi ju lätt så det är uppgiften som är den kluriga. Dels att få något vi vill ha och behöver, dels att det är en utmaning som är lockande som någon vill jobba med.

Video on Wikipedia

Syfte

Göra en app som som spelar in ogv video för att det ska bli lätt att ladda upp filmer.

Challenge

Wikipedia is one of the worlds most visited websites, but is quite different from the other popular sites. Not only is it non-profit and maintained by volunteers, it is walls of text. You might not have noticed how few videos there actually are on Wikipedia. The main reason for this is that Wikipedia only accepts open licensed file formats. For video, that means that for example popular formats such as mpg and mov cannot be used. Instead, right now only ogg/theora is accepted. The problem is that it is unnecessary hard to upload video from mobile phones, the video device almost every person carries every day since they don't handle that format. If it was possible to record useable video from mobiles, the existing app for image uploads could also handle the actual upload of videos. When this tool is available for everybody you can imagine the explosion of useful videos on Wikipedia! Will you be the igniting spark?

Syfte

Få en bättre konverteringsgrad på de som landar på sidan.

Challenge

Wikimedia Sverige supports free knowledge, especially through Wikipedia, the worlds largest and freest encylopedia. It is so free that it is mainly driven by donations. For the Swedish chapter, the landing page for donations surely could be enhanced. Having a nice landing page would not only increase donations but also tell our story about how important it is with a free and open encyclopedia that everybode has access to.
