Projekt:Stöd till gemenskapen 2020/Bidrag/Lunch lecture at KTH

Summary

This “Lunch lecture with Wikimedia Sverige” at KTH is the first activity organized by Wikimedians at KTH. The purpose is to give an introduction about Wikimedia to KTH students and to encourage them to get involved with our community. This will also be a starting point for creating a Wikimedia club at KTH.

Budget

Total 2080 kr including:

1. Lunch wraps for participants and staff (30 wraps x 55 kr each) = 1650 kr
2. Marketing (15 Posters x 2 kr each) = 30 kr
3. Staff meetings: fika cost (snacks and beverages) (2 meetings x 200 kr each) = 400 kr

We are expecting between 20-50 participants. The wraps will be given to the first 20 participants and the extra 10 wraps are for volunteers/students based on the number of volunteers present.

Schedule

The project starts from 20 February 2020 - 02 March.2020. The lunch lecture will be held on Monday 02 March 2020, 11.30-13.30, at KTH Entré.

Expected result, with SMART goals.

1. Participants have a better understanding of how Wikimedia works and how they can contribute.
2. Participants are interested in becoming Wikipedia editors and engaging in Wikimedia community.
3. Participants are interested in joining a Wikimedia club at KTH and becoming volunteers in other following events at KTH.

About me

We are a group of KTH students and volunteers from the Wikimania Conference 2019 in Stockholm who would like to continue volunteering for Wikimedia, especially for activities that will bring more students to contribute to free knowledge for the society.

About me myself, I'm a KTH student currently living in Stockholm, Sweden. I used to be a volunteer of Wikimania Conference 2019 as part of the team 'Conference heroes' and now I'm a coordinator for this Wikimedians at KTH project, which was just started in late 2019.

Partially succeeded! The goals #1-2 were achieved. The participants were well informed about Wikimedia and many got interested to contribute. However, there were much fewer participants than expected (around 10 people). Plus, due to the COVID-19 situation, we haven't been able to gather a bigger group of volunteers for a Wikimedia club yet. We hope to continue again when it's possible.

The budget spent was 1681 SEK in total.
