2022

In this story, we focus on our continued work to build foundations for receiving receive testamentary bequests, as well as as our efforts to consolidate the learnings from 2021.

Bequeathed funds and other gifts can create many opportunities for our association, but some work remains to be done.

Our fundraising work continued to develop during the year. An extensive fundraising work is important, as it gives our current and potential donors many different options of contributing. It also reduces the vulnerability that comes with only having one or two fundraising channels or few sponsors. Additional channels will assure our economy is sustainable in the long term, making it easier to make plans for the organization's activities to support free knowledge with an eye on the future.

That's why in 2022 we both continued our work with building up foundations for receiving bequests and also informed our donors and members that this option of supporting us exists. We have a formal policy for how to handle the incoming funds, and thanks to the lessons from the 2021 situation we now know what the process of receiving a bequest or a legacy can look like. On https://wikimedia.se/testamentera-en-gava-till-wikimedia-sverige/ we have set up a dedicated landing page for people who are considering including WMSE in their will.

Communicating and informing about the possibility of giving a gift to Wikimedia Sverige in a will can pay off immediately or in a longer term. It's important for us that the information gets out and gives an opportunity to those who want to donate. Today, few people are aware that it's possible to include Wikimedia Sverige in their will. If you are devoted to free knowledge, doing so can be a way to make your involvement live on and benefit future generations.
